
There are various undergraduate scholarships available in Nigeria for the year 2023. These scholarships are free to apply and cover most of the expenses related to undergraduate studies. However, there are eligibility criteria that must be met in order to qualify for the scholarships.
These scholarships are typically announced in the months of May, August, September, and November. Some of the undergraduate scholarships available in Nigeria for 2023 include: Guinness Nigeria Scholarship, NNPC/SNEPCo Scholarship, MTN Foundation Science and Technology Scholarship, NNPC/TOTAL Undergraduate Scholarship, NPDC/SEPLAT Scholarship for Undergraduates, NLNG Undergraduate Scholarship, JIM Ovia Foundation Scholarship.
This Undergraduate scholarships come out sometimes around May, August,
September, and November every year.
It’s also important note that some of the undergraduate scholarships listed above are currently ongoing.
1. The SHELL SPDC JV Undergraduate University Scholarships Award:
This is a merit-based scholarship program that is divided into two categories: the National Merit Award and the Areas of Operation Merit Award. The National Merit Award is open to all Nigerians, while the Areas of Operation Merit Award is specifically for Nigerians who are native to the SPDC’s operational area in the states of Abia, Bayelsa, Delta, Imo, and Rivers.”
2. NNPC/TOTAL Undergraduate University Scholarships
Eligibility/Criteria: This university scholarship is open to registered full-time undergraduate students in a recognized Nigerian university. Applicants must be certified at the 100 or 200 level at the time of application.
3. NNPC/SNEPCo National Undergraduate University Scholarships
This program aims to promote academic excellence and improve the skills of young Nigerians. It provides a yearly grant of 200,000 Nigerian Naira to successful applicants from their second year (200 level) until the completion of their degree program.
4. Jim Ovia Scholarship
This scholarship is funded by Mr. Jim Ovia and provides financial assistance to outstanding Nigerian youths.
It was previously known as the MUSTE scholarship and supports eligible awardees for their undergraduate and graduate studies for the duration of their program. The scholarship includes tuition and maintenance allowances, with a total value of 150,000 Nigerian Naira.
5. NNPC/ADDAX Scholarship
NNPC, in collaboration with ADDAX, offers scholarships to students (100L) in Nigerian tertiary institutions under the National Merit Scholarship Awards Scheme. Eligibility criteria:
Must be a Nigerian. Must be a registered, full-time 100 level undergraduate in any Nigerian tertiary
institution. Must have 5 “O” level credit passes in one sitting, including English Language and mathematics.

6. MTN Foundation Science & Technology Scholarship The MTN Foundation Science & Technology Scholarship aims to support high performing full-time second year students studying in public tertiary institutions (universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education) in Nigeria.
The scholarship is renewed annually for existing awardees as long as they maintain a minimum CGPA of 3.5 or its equivalent (second class upper/upper credit). New applications, when advertised, are welcome from full-time students in their second year of study (200 level).
7. DJ Cares University Scholarships
The scholarship is divided into two categories:
Game Changer Scholar: For consistently diligent students with a 2nd Class
Upper Division or its equivalent each semester since University enrollment.
Game Reformer Scholar: For students who have achieved significant
improvement in GPA, attitude, and outlook since enrollment in the University, demonstrated by a GPA point improvement of at least 2.0 GPA sustained over at least 2 consecutive semesters.
