The UN has a number of specialized agencies and programs, including the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), which is focused on finding and promoting solutions to global sustainable development challenges.
Local Pathways Fellowship (LPF)
Local Pathways Fellowship (LPF) is a program run by the SDSN Youth Initiative, which aims to empower and support young urban leaders from cities around the world in advancing progress on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11, which is focused on making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.
LPF program provides fellows with a platform, a guiding framework for action, and connections to development experts and practitioners to help them address local sustainable development challenges, engage with local stakeholders, and become local advocates for sustainable development.
Aim And Purpose LPF program
The aim of the LPF program is to support young leaders in their efforts to drive change and improve sustainability in their cities and communities.
This program aims to provide fellows with the knowledge, resources, and connections they need to be effective advocates and leaders, and to facilitate mutual learning and exchange of urban solutions among fellows.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the LPF program, candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 35 and be based in a city or urban area.
Candidates representing any city and country in the world are encouraged to apply, and SDSN Youth will make efforts to ensure diversity of regional representation among the fellows.
Requirements for United Nations Local Pathways Fellowship Program Qualification
In addition to the above requirements, candidates for the United Nations Local Pathways Fellowship Program should also be able to demonstrate the following:
- Strong analytical and writing skills
- Good communication and presentation skills
- The ability to work effectively in a team
- The ability to think creatively and come up with innovative solutions to problems
- The ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
- A strong interest in the work of the United Nations and a commitment to contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
It is also important for candidates to have a strong network of contacts in the city where they will be based and to be able to demonstrate their ability to engage with local communities and stakeholders.
Finally, candidates should be in good physical and mental health, as the fellowship involves a significant time commitment and may involve some travel within the city.
